Tonight the ONW Girls and Boys Basketball teams face our cross town rivals, the Olathe North Eagles.
The Lady Ravens this school year are 08-11, which ranks them 6th in the sunflower league.
The Olathe North Eagles basketball team is 05-12, which ranks them 10th in the sunflower league.
ONW has won two out of their last five games and North has won zero of their last five in the sunflower league.

Last season the girls basketball team defeated North to pull out a winning season and a top 10 rank in the Sunflower League.
Strategy
With their new offensive strategy, the team faces numerous obstacles coming into this game. But they have high hopes in 1_09_15_VGIRLSBB_KHalterman-236working around the Eagles.
"Olathe North plays zone, but I think if we can move the ball to the third side we can move around them and get a good downhill shot," said Ryley DeMaro.
Even though the tactics of mainly shooting three's is difficult, the girls still find themselves breaking records and over coming the odds.
"Its really exciting [to beat the record] and its cool to be recognized as a school and organization," said DeMaro.1_09_15_VGIRLSBB_KHalterman-103
These amazing records are not easily broken, but it is not impossible.
The Rivalry
Olathe North and Olathe Northwest have had a cross town rivalry since the school opened in 2003. Lots of the middle schools surrounding the high schools split, in which half of the students go to ON and then half of the students go to ONW.
IMG_8492"I think it just kind of created because South and East have a rivalry and a lot of kids know one another and we are the closest boundary territory to each other, I also really enjoy having this game because a lot of my friends go to North and it's really fun to see them and play people you know," said DeMaro.
This rivalry has effected many students, and student athletes. Whether its football, baseball, or basketball, this is a game everyone looks forward to.
