Hoping to compete as well at state this year as last year, last night the Olathe Northwest Gymnastics Team placed second to Olathe East, at the Olathe Quad Invite, hosted by Olathe South.
The team of four (Emily Copeland, Carissa Winters, Carly Stoup, and Jessie Payne) didn’t just place second, three of the girls placed on at least one event.
Bars: Carissa Winters 5th, Jessie Payne 3rd
Beam: Carissa Winters 5th, Jessie Payne 1st
Floor: Carly Stroup 6th, Carissa Winters 5th, Jessie Payne 2nd
Vault: Jessie Payne 1st
All Around: Carly Stroup 6th, Carissa Winters 5th, Jessie Payne 1st
The new rules, restrict the guaranteed ticket to state. The top eight teams in the 6A region get to compete at state. This is determined by an average of a team’s best six team scores out of the eight they participate in before state.
The ONW Gymnastics Team’s next competition is next Thursday (our home meet) at 6:00, located at Olathe East, but hosted by Olathe Northwest. It is our senior night so come celebrate Carissa Winters and her future plans.
